Is the Key2MD CASPer practice tool really free?

Yes. The full library of 80+ CASPer and MMI scenarios is free to use without signup. You can attempt timed stations, see your scores, and review your responses at no cost. The optional AI feedback feature, which provides Q1–Q4 quartile scoring on every response, has both free and Pro tiers — the free tier gives one AI-reviewed response per day.

What is the Q1–Q4 framework?

Q1–Q4 is the quartile scoring framework used by Acuity Insights when assessing real CASPer responses. Q1 indicates a response in the lowest quartile of all candidates, Q2 below average, Q3 above average, and Q4 in the top quartile. The same framework applies whether you are sitting CASPer for an Australian medical school or for the RACGP. Key2MD's AI feedback uses this framework so your practice scores map directly onto the real test.

How does the timer work?

The practice tool offers four CASPer timer modes, plus optional Special Accommodations at 1.5x or 2.0x timing. Standard mode uses a 60-second reading period followed by a 3:30 typed response, mirroring real CASPer conditions. Rapid Fire (30s read, 2:00 write) trains instinctive thinking. Deep Dive (90s read, 6:00 write) gives room to fully develop a response. Off mode disables the timer entirely for first attempts. Most users practise in Standard mode.

What is the difference between CASPer and MMI practice?

CASPer is a typed and video-response test taken at home. MMI is an in-person multi-station interview. The Key2MD practice tool provides timed scenarios for both formats. CASPer scenarios are practised by typing a written response under time pressure. MMI scenarios are practised by speaking out loud or making notes for a structured response, mirroring how a candidate would prepare for a face-to-face interview.

Who is the Key2MD practice tool built for?

The tool is built for Australian medical school applicants preparing for CASPer or MMI as part of their admissions process, and for qualified doctors preparing for the RACGP Casper Test as part of AGPT or FSP entry. Both groups use the same nine competencies and the same Q1–Q4 rubric — the differences are in the bar of expected responses, not in the practice content itself.

How does the AI feedback work?

After completing a station, you can request AI feedback on your response. The AI is calibrated against Dan Brittain's Q1–Q4 framework — the same one he uses in 1:1 coaching — and against the nine competencies that real CASPer assessors evaluate. The feedback identifies which competencies your response demonstrated well, which it missed, and suggests specific edits. Free users receive one AI feedback per day. Pro subscribers receive unlimited feedback.
